Weight a minute Wednesdays

Howdy, ya'll.  It's been awhile since I've done a "weight a minute Wednesday" post.  Obviously, I've been sick, so I haven't been able to work out much.  I'm also on steroids, so I've been incredibly hungry.  All that being said, I am very ready to get back on the c25k bandwagon, and eating healthy.  I've been eating healthy even though I'm sick, so that's a plus.

We had the LO this past weekend, and didn't want to have him holed up in the house the entire weekend (even though we were sick as dogs.)  So on Sunday, we decided to take him out on the boat, to the sandbar. Like most 5 year olds, he goes through spurts where he wants to talk your ear off, or he wants to be left alone and put legos together for what seems like 6 hours at a time.  Sunday happened to be a talk your ear off kind of day.  I welcome it.  I encourage it.  It's a great time for him and I to bond while Dad is busy.  Anyways, I'm laying in bed wallowing, coughing my lungs up, and he's chatting my ear off.  After he finishes one of his many sentences, I think...oh, good time to start getting ready.  He's already in his swim trunks, Dad's in the shower, I'll try & find a bathing suit that matches.  So I say to him "oh honey, Ms. Cole has to find her bathing suit"...as I'm getting up to go to my dresser.  He responds "oh Ms. Cole, I wish you were skinny."  ...silence... I say "So does Ms. Cole, baby...so does Ms. Cole."  Did it sting a bit?  Sure.  He's so innocent, he really has no idea what it even means.  I've only ever wanted to be healthy, but I just have such a hard time sticking with it since it's such a long process.  It also got me thinking that this little child, only 5 years old, already knows what fat and skinny is.  How messed up is that?  I mean, he should know about healthy, not fat vs. skinny.  I have a diary from when I was 9 years old where I talk about going on a diet.  How messed up is that?  For as long as I can remember, I've always struggled with my weight.  There was a time I was actually a healthy weight, but all I saw in the mirror was fat, fat, fat.  Why do we do this to ourselves?  This post feels painfully raw and real, but that's life, I guess.  So, what are my plans?  Well, the color me rad run is coming to my town in March, and I'm going to sign up.  Come hell or high water I will complete that race.  I got this!

And to end this post on a positive note, here are a few pictures from the sandbar.

I'm all ready to get my tan on :)

You can't really tell...but this was a Momma & baby Manatee.  I'm so thankful to live in Florida.

Me & our little stinky head.

The Beau & LO. Gosh, I love them.

Another post from bed

I post this from my super comfy bed.  No, I'm not ashamed that I've pretty much lived here the last few days.  I'm sick, damnit.  This is my comfy sickly outfit:

I finally went to the Dr. on Monday.  I have a pretty bad case of bronchitis, so he prescribed 3 prescriptions for me.  I have a narcotic based cough medicine that normally makes me feel great (no purple drank for me), but this time...it's not really working.  I'm still coughing my lungs up.  So friggen sexy & painful.  The beau and I could seriously start our own pharmacy at this point.

What else have I been up to?  Making this super healthy & delicious avocado/chickpea salad.  Ya'll, it's sooooooo tasty & soooo healthy. Seriously, 3 ingredients.  Just try not to eat it all in one sitting.

We all know this wouldn't be a complete post without a nail picture. Ha!

Hope you're all having a fabulous Tuesday. Tomorrow is Wednesday, and it's back to work for me.  As much as I feel like crap, I really need my routine back.  It gives me purpose.

It's the freakin' weekend...

...baby I'm about to have me some fun. Or not. Womp womp. Still sick (when will it go away?!) normally on the weekends I'm all about this:

Unfortunately for me, this weekend it's more like this:

But for real, ya'll. My shoulder & a rib are hurting from coughing so hard. Glad I haven't had any kids, or I probably would've pissed all over myself by now.  The current meds I'm on are lay in bed, write school papers, and then watch reruns of Millionaire Matchmaker & RHOA. Holla.  I am thinking of maybe taking a quick trip to Publix & getting the ingredients to make some shrimp queso to eat before steak tonight. Or not. Who the eff knows.

Anyways, I hope you're all having a fabulous weekend.  Tomorrow we're going out on the boat, so I hope I feel better by then.

Friday, Friday, something something Friday

Remember when that Rebecca Black chick was popular for about .02 seconds with the "Friday" song? Gosh, that song was so f'n annoying. PS - hope I got it stuck in your head. PSS - you're welcome.

Laying in bed right now with some kind of cold/weird cough/body aches/boo hoo wah wah. The beau has it as well. We are quite the cute couple:

So, true to Nicole form, I've also been busy doing this:

Yeah...picking my nails while being a sickly in bed.

But I've also done this (after the picking, of course):

....this was supposed to be a picture of the french manicure I gave myself. But I deleted the picture. womp womp. So use your imagination.

Since I'm home sick, I feel totally useless laying in bed, so I did about 4 loads of laundry. Which is still sitting on the couch waiting to be folded. I am a hot mess, ya'll. I know when the LO comes over tonight he'll be all "Miss Cole, what is all this stuff?" as he waves his little hand around to the laundry. My response will be "...blank stare". Sometimes 5 year olds sure can make ya feel like crap, lol.

Oh, and to keep this a little on the Fashion Friday theme, here's a picture of a new work shirt I bought. I am in LURVE. Legit love.

Okay, I'm off to a nyquil induced dreamland. Zzzzz.

The facts of Nicole

First ever linkup, let's see if I can even do this correctly (just a little blog impaired). I'm linking up with Whitney over at I wore yoga pants. She's a fellow FL girl and funny as h-e-double-hockey-sticks.

A few random facts about me:

I normally paint my nails once a day. Where do I find the time? I have no idea. Minus 5 minutes from your shower & you have time to paint your nails.

Speaking of nails, I rarely use finger nail polish remover, so I just pick off the polish. Then there will be a little random pile of fingernail polish pickins' that I have to vacuum up.

Speaking of vacuum + chores, I hate vacuuming. Only because we have wood + tile + some carpet, so it means 2 different vacuum cleaners and a broom. / cue emotional "woe is me" theme music now.

Let's talk coffee. Love it iced, hate it hot.

I'm such a closet hoarder sentimental lady, that I've been paying $90 a month for a storage unit I haven't really seen the contents of in about 2 years. I might be a few episodes away from a "hoarders" episode. Holla.

I'm finally back in college after an 8 year break. Seriously kids, stay in school.

I guess that's it. Because it's 6:30 and I definitely didn't think this post through. So there's some random crap for ya!

Random ramblings on Saturday

So last night was fun. We had 4 of our friends over and we drank copious amounts of alcohol drank a few beers (no one got sick), played board games, and cooked burgers+the fixin's. Oh, we also took shots of some liquor that our friend brought back from Brasil. I have no idea what it is, since it's in Portuguese, but it was pretty tasty. Since I'm such a classy broad, I served it up in random cups. See picture below. Yeah, never a dull moment.

Now that I got that post out of the way, here's some randomness that's been going on:

My brother & SIL had their baby. River was born on 1/7 and was 8 lbs. 8 oz. He's the cutest thing ever. Of course I'm not partial. He really is!

I got my roots did! Homegirl was needing a dye job in the worst kind of way. I love my hair girl to death, but damn is she expensive. So what does any respectable girl that doesn't want to spend $150 at a salon do? Stop at walmart and get 3 boxes of dye for $28. Cheap & fabulous, that's me (just dont' tell the bf that). :)

A project I'd been working on recently was revamping some of our patio furniture. The bf is all about fixing what you have, instead of constantly buying new. I decided to try to fix it myself, and spruce it up and I have to say that I'm in lurve. See for yourself:

Before. Green & faded.

After. Spa blue & fabulous.

All in all the project cost us around $120 + time. No way could we have gotten a new patio set for that.

Well, that's all for now. I'm going to nap aka nurse my hangover. Have a great weekend!

Oh hellll no!

Please tell me I'm not the only who has gotten sick 6 days into the New Year? Way to start it off. With some lovely eboli sickness. Peeing out of your b-hole for 24+ hours can be a little exhausting. And damn, am I hungry!!

TMI for ya? Oh well! Such is life.

Gotta run! (get it? I'm so disgustingly clever)

Holiday recap

I realize I'm a little late, but "busy" this holiday season is a huge freaking understatement!

Last day of work 12/21.

Birthday party for one of beau's college buddies 12/22.

Beau's parents arrive 12/23. Take them to lunch on the water. Awesome idea Nicole, considering it was about 40 degrees out. Oops.

Christmas eve brunch 12/24. I was super nervous about this. I had a weird feeling in my tummy. It was a big day. Our families (minus my Dad - he's in SC) were meeting for the first time. People started arriving and everyone was mingling beautifully. The food turned out delicious, and there was SO much of it. Our families really hit it off. The beau and I still talk about how great it was. I think we'll make it a yearly tradition.

Christmas day 12/25. We get the LO around 9 and open presents. He had such a great time. It was so fun seeing his face light up. Blessed is an understatement. I don't even know the word to describe how happy I am. Beau is spoiled, I am spoiled, and LO is definitely spoiled. I wanted to write about all of the incredible things I received but I don't want to seem like I'm bragging. So here are my favorite gifts: DIAMOND EARRINGS (what what!!!), a rose gold MK watch, MK purse & matching wallet, a Victoria's Secret pink robe, and a crock pot. It is so nice to be with someone like Beau. I don't mean to brag, or make it seem like things are perfect, but I waited a really long time for someone like him to bless me with his presence. Gosh, I'm so hormonal.

Day after Christmas 12/26 we headed up to Beau's family's mountain/lake house in NC at 5 am. Long drive, but well worth it. LO got to see snow for the first time. Took him to Gatlinburg. Got to spend some really great quality time together. No internet, no cable, no phones. We were really forced to interact with each other. No outside distractions. It was great. Can't wait until we can go back next year.

Come back on 12/31. Drop LO off at his Mom's house. Head home so the beau can get a 2 hour nap while I get ready. Head over to my cousin & her husbands house for a NYE party. Beau and I promised each other we wouldn't get too silly drunk...we wanted to be functional the next day. Wow...I guess we both had our fingers crossed, because we imbibed...and had a fabulous time.

1/1 lay around the house for awhile. I finally get up and make myself start taking down all of the Christmas decorations.

1/2 back to the grind. YEAH! Not. Actually, I'm pretty lucky because I really do like my job. My boss is the bomb.com. He even got me an iPad mini & a sweet EOY bonus. SCORE!

The gators are playing tonight, so I convinced the beau to hook up his new TV we got him for Christmas. He is watching the game in 3D. It's so wild the way technology has advanced. DAMN, I sound old.

Peace!
xoxo
