Marry Christmas

No ya'll, not that kind of Christmas (yet). We had a Christmas eve brunch at our house today. As I was pulling out mugs for coffee, I found a white mug that says 'marry christmas'. Being the nosy bitch concerned woman I am, I asked the beau "does this have a significant meaning, or is it a chinese mug that has a nice big typo"? The answer: "awesomely awful chinese mug".  I still have no idea if anyone used that mug today.

Anywho.
It's 1:20 am and I can't sleep! This always happens on Christmas. I am a little freak of nature. I will probably get about 3 hours of sleep tonight, and then drink 40 ounces of coffee tomorrow and think it's totally normal while I'm prying my eyes open with toothpicks.

No I'm not lucky, I'm blessed!

Hey party people!

Not only did I celebrate my 5 years of employment at my awesome job this past Friday, but tonight we had our holiday party. It was super fun. At a local sushi place. I am not a big sushi fan but I tried a few different raw types of fish. It tasted pretty good, but my tummy is not happy. Holiday parties are always so fun! I love seeing everyone outside of work all dressed up and in the Christmas spirit.

Just wanted to make a little update! Happy hump day.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I'm singing that song as I sit here on the living room floor, wine glass in hand, and rolls of wrapping paper surrounding me. I don't have a panic attack when I have to wrap a stack of presents ...I dunno what yalls problem is, but wrapping is fun! It makes me excited. It doesn't make me excited that I have to spend $6 on a crappy roll of paper though. Shut the front door.

Anyways, weekend recap:

Friday night - Christmas party at Duffy's. Beau and I were dressed to the nines. Damn, he's so handsome it makes me feel like a silly little school girl. Some random guy that works with Beau was a little drunk and feeling my head & hair asking who curled my hair. It was so strange I have to laugh. Unfortunately there are no pictures. Boo. Hiss.

Saturday - headed down to Palm Beach so the LO could go on a PIRATE SHIP for his friends birthday. Kids have it good these days! When I was a kid, we had parties at McDonald's. Lucky bastards...sheesh. Oh, I also turned into a day drinker while the kids were on the pirate ship. Way to keep it classy.

Saturday night - after the birthday festivities we headed to beau's friends house for an Ugly Christmas sweater party. It was tons.of.fun. Everyone was so festive, and dressed up. Mass amounts of food and liquor. They even had a luge which was pretty damn fun. First time for everything. Beau & his friend stayed up until almost 3. They were definitely feeling like garbage the next morning. Boys will be boys Men, heh.

Sunday was a relaxing kind of day. Did some chores around the house, dropped off some way overdue birthday presents to my cousins, and then had steak on the grill.

I am super duper excited that I only have 4 more days of work. HOLLA!

Hope ya'll have a fab week!

Oh mylanta

One of the funniest pranks I ever pulled was this iPhone autocorrect joke on the beau. In the settings of an iPhone you can have it "autocorrect" certain worlds. Basically, I took words like "omg" and when he would type that word, it'd change to"oh mylanta" or "lol" was "lots of licks". It drove him crazy. But the damn fruitcake never said a WORD to me until I finally asked him if his phone was okay! He figured it was just another weird iPhone glitch that he's used to. So although I didn't get the reaction I wanted, it made me laugh knowing he was typing in acronyms and "autocorrect" was changing it to completely different words.

Oh, and speaking oh mylanta....never eat hot wings/crockpot buffalo chicken 3 days in a row. Unless you want to totally pee out of your b-hole. Don't throw coffee in the mix thinking it won't be that bad. Ugh, honey...yes, it will be that bad.

That's all. Just a friendly reminder to not eat yourself into a hot sauce fueled diarrhea explosion.

Back to life, back to reality...

Back to the here and now, yeah. Oh, hey ya'll! Who doesn't love a little En Vogue on a Monday evening? I am so sorry for my M.I.A. status...I suck, I know.

I've officially been back for 2 days from Amsterdam and I honestly wish I could take the trip all over again. It was probably the most fun I've ever had in my life. Like, ever.

The beau and I want to go back, like now. Being on a really awesome fun vacation and then coming home to a regular life can be a little depressing. It makes you realize that maybe you were in a bit of a rut when you get home. So instead of whining talking about how depressing it can be to come home, I'll just do a quick little list of things you learn before/during/after a fabulous vacation:

1) When done packing, always check what you packed. And recheck again. Oh, and always check if the adapters you bought so you can do simple things like charge your iPhone are really the right ones. Yeah, that almost happened. (PS - ALWAYS fold your clothes. You can fit so much more in the luggage with folded clothes).

2) No bed will ever be as comfortable as the one you come home to. Guaranteed.

3) As tempting as it is to upload 3982392 pictures to your facebook, limit the pictures. People really aren't that interested. It all looks the same to them. After all, they did not get to stroll the streets for hours on end. That's all the fun you had.

4) Speaking of strolling the street for hours, make sure your shoes are comfortable. Blisters on the first day are not entirely fun.

5) When traveling overseas, check out the areas and what will be around the hotel. Also research if the country you're traveling to takes the types of credit cards you have. Come to find out, a lot of Amsterdam will only take chipped cards.

6) Be prepared to get screwed when exchanging currency.

7) Look for restaurants that the locals go to. Those places are when you hit the food jackpot.

8) The beer you drink over there will not taste nearly as good when you find it at home. Trust me.

9) Remember that a lot of the places are old. Well, every place is pretty damn old. It is entirely possible to get locked in a bathroom with the lock falling off in your hand. Yeah, that  might have happened.

10) Take a carry on with a change of clothes. Lots of things can happen, and who wants to have to wear dirty undies while they search for your lost luggage. You can always use the carry on to bring all of your souvenirs home!

11) Expect the unexpected. Our luggage was left in ATL on the way home. So we sat around all damn day on Saturday waiting for it to arrive.

12) Last but not least, START PLANNING NEXT YEARS TRIP!!

And since this list ended up being so damn long, here are a few pictures:

TTFN!

Baby, it's cold outside

Is it too early for a Christmas song? Doubtful, people. It's NEVER too early! Anyways, I write to you tonight all the way from the lovely Toledo Park Inn "Sports Bar". Seriously, this place is like a dirty mans dream come true. The floor is an awful vomit inducing green and maroon swirly pattern, the barstools are something still stuck in the 80's, and the beer...well, it's a little warm but it'll do. Beer is beer (at this point, that's true). Have you ever people watched in an out of town bar? It is one of the funnest things to do. Is funnest a word? I have no idea and I'm 2 beers in so I'll leave that word alone.

Anywho, I just wanted to post a quick update on today's travels. The flight was good, I took an hour car ride from Detroit to Toledo and made small talk with the car driver. Checked in at the hotel and went up to the room..stick the key in the door...then you notice that someone elses stuff is there. So.damn.awkward. Even more awkward that the person was in the bathroom taking a dump. Promptly go downstairs and explain their mistake. Yikes. Crises averted (sort of.). Next, set up booth. Check! Slice finger up. Done & done. Go to hotel "sports bar" on Halloween and drink a beer, order a burger, and contemplate life. Ahhh, the good life.

Ya'll have fun now, ya hear? Trick or treat ;)

Slacker ass bitch

Yep, that pretty much explains me at this moment. A slacker ass bitch. The reason for my absence:

Last week I traveled from Wednesday - Saturday to Vegas for work.
I got home around 1:30 on Saturday afternoon. The boys were at the lake house, so I had all of this free time to clean. Yay! My boss had actually texted me Friday afternoon asking if I'd watch his sons for 4 hours while he went to some charity thing. I was super tired but I decided to be the good little employee (even off the clock), and watch the kids. It wasn't so bad. They were very well behaved, and I made some money to get my hurrrrr did. Hello blonde highlights :)
Sunday was c25k day, grocery shopping day, cleaning day, and hair day with my girl, Ali. She rocks my socks off. She is kind of like the hair whisperer. I don't know how she does it, but she transforms my mop into a glamourous do'. Once the boys got home on Sunday, we went to the pumpkin patch and got 8 pumpkins. I have no idea why we get so many pumpkins, but LO enjoys it, so we entertain him.

This week has been just as busy. We are getting ready for our 2nd annual halloween party so it's been lots of cleaning and last minute details. Also, this stupid bitch Sandy decided she'd become a hurricane and put a damper on my c25k training. Boohoo. I am actually pretty upset about it. I never thought I'd be one of those people that were upset I couldn't work out. Who is this girl?

Tonight was "taco Thursday" and LO had 1 hard and 1 soft taco. He is becoming such a good eater! He always tells me how good I cook. And how pretty I look. And how he loves my clothes, hair, shoes, etc. I love that little booger. Flatter will get you everywhere in life, kid.

Tomorrow is work, pedicure, cotton candy cocktails, and perhaps some shopping. I know, I know...I am so lucky. :)

Oh PS - I'd like to say HOLLA to my first follower. Even though it is the beau, he started following me all on his own. What a fantastic gentleman.

Weight a minute Wednesdays

Ya'll know what today is. Blah, blah, blah. I really just feel like being random today but I'll talk a little about how I'm feeling.

Low carb is going well. Had a BLT for lunch today, the bread tasted weird but of course I still ate it.

Started week 5 of c25k last night. Got side stitches AND calf cramping. Womp womp. BUT at least I finished it.

Also, my arms and sides are extremely sore from JM30DS that I did on Monday. Yeah! Muscles are sexy (when they finally decide to make an appearance, that is).

Randomness:
Is my beau the only one that leaves 1 square of tp on the roll? Seriously, who does that? (please tell me every other man in America, so I don't have to strangle mine) lol.

Am I the only one who gets stank feet from wearing open toed shoes? I thought they were supposed to breathe and shizz? This problem is easily solved. Shove foot in a pair of closed toed shoes. Stench eliminated.

Does anyone else cry at Tim McGraw's "live like you were dying"? No? Just me? well that doesn't make me feel totally crazy or anything. Ok!

I suppose I've rambled enough for the time being.

I'm dreaming....of a Fall Florida

Hey lovelies! While I get to hear about everybody and their brother wearing hoodies, scarves, boots, and having bonfires, I get to sweat my ass off in 87 degree weather. Seems fair to me. As I was half asleep this morning laying in bed, I heard the weather man talking about a "cold front"...and he followed that up with "75 degrees". Geez, I don't know how I'll survive in that kind of freezing cold front, lol.

Anyways, when you think of Fall, what kind of colors do you think of? I think browns, dark oranges, dark purples/reds, etc. The boyfriend says "Fall is orange and green, not brown." And so our fall color discussion began. We are too exciting for our own good.

I got this Sally Hansen "mudslide" color tonight from Walgreens in the clearance section (holla!). $1.99 and I was sold. I have to be the cheapest thriftiest person around.

Here is the new color:

Also picked up this new hair got2b oil-licioius dry oil mist. It was on sale for $3.99 so I decided to give it a try as I'm CONSTANTLY dealing with frizzy, flyaway hair. I tried it tonight, and I'm pretty much in love already:

Last thing on my "current obsession" list is nothing to do with beauty, but everything to do with FOOD. I'm currently in lurve with the Dunkin' Donuts pumpkin coffee. Until I found out that the flavor is actually a pumpkin syrup and is 39 g of carbs!! Ahh, I had to find something to cure my pumpkin craving, so I picked up this pumpkin pie spice. It is all that, and a bag o' chips:

Don't blame me for your new found addictions ;)

Fashion Friday...on a Saturday

Hey ya'll! Okay, so I realize that I'm a day late and a million dollar short. Yesterday was pretty hectic, as usual. Worked all day, and then drove for 4+ hours to the lake house. By the time we got here, I was beat. All I wanted was sleep.

I don't have any ootd pictures to post because I had a mini meltdown on Thursday night. I've been busting my ass and working out, eating right, doing ALL the right things. I've also been reading a shit ton of blogs (this will start to make sense soon - promise). Some of the blogs I've been reading show how you can take your wardrobe, mix & match pieces, and voila, you've got a whole (almost) new outfit. So I locked myself in our bedroom and tried this. Yes, results = terrible. I was not happy in the slightest. I decided to just forget this weeks Fashion Friday.

Which leads me to the next part of the story (if you've stuck around this long - kudos to you). I settled on a pair of navy blue shorts, a fitted ruched brown shirt, and tan/brown wedge heels. Straight hair, a few accessories and I was ready for work. During lunch break, I was standing outside of Walgreens waiting to meet up with some lady from a yard sale website (random? - yes). Anyway, this stranger comes up to me and says "I'm not trying to be fresh, but you are unbelievably absolutely stunning. Wow, am I drooling?" etc. etc. I was flattered. I don't recall ever being told I'm "stunning". It's nice to receive compliments, even if it is from a random stranger.

So, long story shirt (haha - gotcha!), some days when you feel like absolute shit and you pick out every.single.thing you hate about your body, just stop. STOP being so critical. The people who love you (and even random strangers), appreciate you for the person you are. Love yourself.

I'm so happy my heart could explode.

Tis' true. Today, I became an Aunt for the first time. It is such an incredible feeling. I introduce you to, Landon Andrew:

Weight a minute Wednesdays

So I'm dying laying on the floor, underneath the a/c vent cooling off from week 4, day 1 of the c25k. Yeah, literally felt like I was going to barf. Had side cramps, shin splints, barf-y feeling. But it's okay, I told myself to keep going. Then I pictured my cellulite leaving my body and ran even faster. I feel like my legs are the biggest "problem" area of my whole body. I think when I do finally get down to my goal weight, I'll still have bigger legs. Speaking of legs, I once had a guy say (and I am for real quoting this - thats how much it stuck) "damnnnnnn girl, you got some luggage on those legs!!!". Yeah, if any of you guys are wondering, that is NOT a compliment to a girl. Far from it, actually. He was right, though. My quads have always been bigger. Now I just need to get them more toned and I'll be happy. And if I were to ever receive that "compliment" again, I'd know it was because my legs are muscular, and not just fat.

Besides that, the low carb is still going well. Lost 1 more pound this week. That makes 9 lbs. since 9/13. Not too shabby. I do have a confession though. I drank on Sunday. The beau and I were doing yard work, and it just sounded so delicious...an ice cold beer along with the shovel. 1 beer turned into 5 and I was super tipsy! By this point, I was merely supervising the beau's work, not actually working anymore. Anyways, hope you hookers have a great night. Don't forget to watch the debate tonight! Intelligence is sexual.

PS - don't you wish your face looked this awesome after day 1, week 4 of the c25k? :)

Fashion Friday

TGIF ya'll! For "fashion Friday", I'm going to talk about the current trends that I'm loving. Oh, and of course I'm going to brag on myself a little and post a picture of a dress I made last night. My 2nd article of clothing, so far!

I'm still loving the jean jacket trend! Any jacket, really. The new blazer thing everyone is doing is super cute, too. I need to go out and get one, stat.

So on to the ootd. I got this fabric from Walmart. I know, right? It's actually really cute and I was surprised to snag something so cute. And it's rayon, which I've found is really easy to sew. As I was browsing dresses online, I decided I needed something cute & new to wear. So, I got to work. Here is the end result:

So, the beau thinks it's a little too "bahamian", but I prefer the description "summery", thanks Dawn. Since I live in Florida, I can get away with wearing this kind of print for awhile. Hell, I might even be rocking this dress when I'm 70.

I did try and get a regular shot of me wearing this dress, but it was a little difficult. a) I was starting to run late for work therefore I was rushing around, and b) the dog wanted to make her blog debut. So, say hello to Jesse!

& a close up of the color:

I hope all of you lovelies have a fabulous weekend!

Weight a minute Wednesdays

Wednesdays I talk about this weeks triumphs, failures, and anything else related to my weight loss.

Just finished up a kick ass workout with Jillian Michaels! I love the 30 day shred so hard. If only I could stick to the full 30 days straight. This week is my 3rd week into the c25k program. Since that program is only 3 days a week, I'm reserving the other 2 days for Jillian. I did a side by side comparison of how I look compared to about 11 days ago. Not sure if I can see a difference but there was a 6 lb. loss so it had to be from somewhere. as long as it's not from my titties and ass, titties and ass.

The low carb eating is going well. I honestly thought it'd be a lot harder then it is. About the first 5-7 days I felt like I could beat the hell out of someone. I would've stolen a kids french fries. Ate a cops donut, you know it..I was feeling a little desperate. But I persevered. And so far, it's been 13 days. 13 days doesn't seem that long, but hell, when you're cutting back potatoes, pasta, breads, and fruit, it feels like a fricken lifetime, trust me on this! Only a crazy bitch dedicated individual would choose to give up alcohol and carbs in the same month.

No use crying over spilled milk

It's true kids, there really is no use crying over spilled milk. Now when it's wine, that's a WHOLE different story. Who cares about cleaning up this mess, I was upset that I could smell the wine, and would never be able to taste it. Oh who am I kidding? I totally licked it up. Kidding! or am I?

Sew what?!

Omg Omg Omg, ya'll!!! I made a skirt, and a sash, because I'm such a fucking badass!! But, seriously. I've been trying to sew for about the last month. The beau finally figured out how to thread the needle, and he taught me. Good job, beau! You rock! I won't admit to how long I'd been sitting at the damn sewing machine every night after work silently cursing daydreaming about all of the nice things I'd sew for my friends and I. Anyways, after trying what seemed like 30983091 different techniques, I finally found a tutorial (that's in all spanish - with porno spanish music playing in the background), and it finally clicked! The woman in the tutorial put it in "Nicole" terms! I started sewing away and a few minutes later finally came up with this gem. Well, I can't show you right now. I will upload pictures tomorrow! :)

On another note, the beau got himself a "flashback Atari" last night from Walmart (on clearance, shocking - I know). Since we had the LO tonight, they wanted to play a game after dinner. Behold, the cutest site I've ever seen:

I'm so blessed to be a part of their lives. Beau is so so good to me. He is such an amazing Father and it really makes me melt to watch the 2 of them together.

Ok! I'm going to catch an episode of "Taboo"...it's on adult "babies". Bizarre, but I love a good mind fuck every now and then!

The adventures of "Sober Sally"

Hey ya'll! I think this is my 20293th time at trying to keep a blog, let's see if this one sticks. I'm not sure if I just lose interest easily, or it's because I try and make a designated blog for certain things. IE - crafting blog, weight loss blog, personal blog, etc. Maybe it's my craziness "undiagnosed ADD", who the hell really knows.

Anyways, let's talk about the weekend. Since I'm working on being a "sober sally" this month (yeah, I know..it's making me feel suicidal, too) I had no choice decided to be the DD this weekend.

Friday night was ladies night. I had a fun time even though I didn't drink. Of course I got the predictable "are you pregnant?" questions since I wasn't drinking. Everyone that knows me, knows that I like to drink a beer or 2 or a 12 pack once in awhile. Oh, and wine. Lots & lots of wine. I don't discriminate either...white, red, pink, etc., I'll drink the damn bottle and see how much I like it.

Here is a picture or 2 from my fabulous ladies night:

Saturday was fun too. Another "sober sally" night! Outback for my brothers birthday (he's 27 - yay!), and then Superplay to bowl & play laser tag. Us old people really know how to party. Here are a few of my favorites from the festivities:

This last picture makes me laugh so hard. Cousin love, apparently.

Ok, that's all for now. Snuggled up on the couch taking advantage of the free HBO & Cinemax weekend.
